A Christmas Trip to London

Sunday, 21 December 2014

Last weekend, my friends and I headed down to The Big Smoke to see our little Londoner friend :)
It was D's first time ever going, and V hadn't been for so long, so seeing the sights was in order, as was introducing them to Ben's Cookies and New Bond Street Victoria's Secret! (Which had some of the VSFS 2014 outfits already inside!!

We were instantly thrown into Christmas spirit as Reindeer's (from The Reindeer Hire Company) greeted us at Victoria Station, and made us all coo, aww and smile before we headed off to find A.

The first place we went to was Covent Garden which has always been one of my favourite places. There is always something to look at, whether in confusion or awe, and it is full of fond memories.

Next up, we headed to M&M world in Leicester Square...

Followed by a wander to Carnaby Street, which is actually somewhere that I have never been before!
I introduced the girls' to Ben's Cookies (although V thought I was just saying Millie's very wrong - you can take the Northerner out of the North...) which they fell in love with and shall hopefully be passing on to everybody else!

If you haven't heard of Ben's Cookies, I hugely recommend them! They were originally based in Oxford's Covered Market (which I actually did a post on a few months back!), and since then, they have 10 more stores in the UK (London, Bath, Brighton and Edinburgh) - and if you really, really, want to try them but don't live close enough you can order them online!

We also bumped into Paddington Bear!

This guy was designed by Liam Gallagher as part of The Paddington Trail currently taking part in London until the 30th December, in aid of the release of the new film.
There are 50 bears altogether around London, designed by the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Sandra Bullock, John Hurt and Nicole Kidman, following the bear's favourite places in London.

Fun Fact! - Michael Bond, the creator of Paddington, bought a small bear from Selfridges on Christmas Eve 1956 as a present for his wife, and named him after the nearest railway station to where they lived - and that's where the name and the bear came from! :)

After checking into our home for the night, having a rest and having a mini dilemma over the shower, we headed out to a very busy, very cold, Winter Wonderland.
I didn't manage to get many photos here as I was trying to keep as much of me warm as I could!

The next day was  day full of scenery...

Shopping...

Bumping into another Paddington (this one was designed by Frankie Bridge, and I love it!)...

And finally, after a long day, going home.

I had such a fun weekend and I absolutely love London.
But I love the fact that I can leave it behind for a much more settled and less busy home much, much more.
